The Fisher Tradition

1880

William Fisher, an engineer at the city waterworks in Marshalltown, Iowa, worked continuously for over twenty-four hours to manually maintain constant discharge pressure on a steam-driven water pump to supply water to fight a fire. From this experience, Fisher invented the constant-pressure pump governor and founded the Fisher Controls Company to manufacture his regulator.

The Foundation is Laid

Fisher Representative James Rawley relocates from Marshalltown, Iowa to Denver and founds the James E. Rawley Company. Fisher Controls names the company as their exclusive representation in the Rocky Mountain region.

1986
We are Applied Control

1986

Chuck Barber moves from another Fisher representative in Memphis to take over for Jim and renames the company Applied Control Equipment. Applied Control Equipment becomes the new Fisher representative in Denver, CO.

1992
Emerson Brings an Increase in Offerings

1992

The Emerson Electric Company buys Fisher Controls International and forms the Fisher-Rosemount family of companies. Applied Control Equipment becomes Emerson's exclusive partner for additional products in the region.

Gaining a Solid Footing as an Industry Leader

1996

Jack Carey, another Fisher leader from Marshalltown, moves to Denver to lead the company. Jack establishes a customer-centric approach to serving our market and expanded the company’s core capabilities in tandem with the ever-expanding portfolio of premier products from Emerson. In doing so, Jack establishes Applied Control as the leading supplier of process automation solutions in the Rocky Mountain region.

Creating a Vibrant Company Culture

Randy Schrader becomes president and sets forth on a mission to build upon Jack’s legacy, while dropping “Equipment” from the company’s name.  Schrader joined the team in 1996 as an Automation Specialist and grew with the company while filling several leadership roles. During his tenure, Randy focused on fostering a company culture that attracted and kept talent, while promoting teamwork and customer service. With the support of the company’s leadership team, Applied Control developed strong leaders across all areas of the company to support and propel continued growth. The company’s capabilities, locations, and people grew in tandem toward achieving a common goal of delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Applied Control acquires the Pentair line providing more options for customers including more pressure management solutions.

Emerson's Impact Partner Network

Emerson launches the Impact Partner Network. The Emerson Impact Partner Network includes 21 North American sales & service companies offering proven solution capabilities, local accessibility & consistent engineering practices that produce measurable business results.

Leveraging our History to Drive a Bright Future

Tad Cahill becomes President of Applied Control. Cahill joined Applied Control in 2012, first serving as a Reliability Solutions expert. Over the course of his career, he served as VP Sales for Applied Control, VP North American Sales (Systems & Solutions) for Emerson, and Chief Operating Officer for Applied Control. Another Marshalltown, Iowa native, Tad comes from a "Fisher Family" and brings the rich Fisher tradition of quality and value with him.

One Team Serving the West

Applied Control and PCE Pacific merge to become the Emerson Impact Partner serving the Western Region of the US. This expands the Applied Control territory outside of the Rocky Mountain region to 11 states including the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
